The quote that wins the work
A freelance quote is not a number, it is a scope: what you will do, what you will not, what happens when the client changes their mind halfway, and when the money is due. The client choosing between three freelancers picks the one whose quote they understood, not the cheapest, and a quote with the scope written down loses fewer jobs and wins nearly every argument afterwards. The builder opens a document you set out line by line, with a valid-until date so the price does not hold forever, and sends it as a link the client reads and approves by signing their name. Writing one that gets accepted has the wording.
Milestones and a deposit
A project that runs for weeks is a project you are financing unless it is staged. A deposit before you start covers the work you do before the first payment and proves the client is committed; a milestone at a visible point keeps you level; the balance on delivery is what the client holds until they are happy. Set the stages as percentages and the amounts add up to the total exactly, and the app shows each stage invoiced or not so the same one is never billed twice. Quote, then invoice
The point of quoting in the same place you invoice is that nothing is retyped. When the work is done, the approved quote becomes the invoice with one press and the same lines, so what the client agreed to is what they are billed, to the penny. A quote redrawn as an invoice by hand is where a figure quietly changes and a client quietly notices. No fee to send it
Some tools charge to generate the payment link or to send the document. This one does not: the quote, the link, the client's approval and the invoice it becomes are all free, run in your browser, and need no account. The client opens the link in any browser, approves it, and later pays you by whatever means you already use. The tool's job is the document and the record, not a cut of the work.
